Richard McGuire Art for the Street, New York 1978-1982, documenting the Ixnae Nix street drawings and Liquid Liquid band posters, published by Alden Projects (click link below to learn more).
In 1979 I started making stencil-drawings with spay-paint and crayon of a silhouetted character named Ixnae Nix. Each drawing is an episode in a series. I made two of each design, I would paste one up on the street and keep the other copy for my archive. I was simultaneously designing posters for my band and pasting them up on the same nights. The following day I would have them photographed to document them. In contrast the band posters were mostly collages with either hand-drawn of Letra-set type, these were either offset printed or silkscreened in editions of around a hundred.
